Paul Cleghorn

Aude Education Consultancy was founded by Paul Cleghorn to offer advice, training and support to schools and education authorities.

Using his knowledge and experience of working as a Headteacher of a primary school and as a Development Officer in Thinking Development, he has created a range of courses developing thinking and emotional intelligence through philosophical enquiry aimed at all ages from nursery to secondary school. Paul now works as a consultant in philosophical enquiry and thinking development and continues to direct the ‘Thinking Through Philosophy’ project in Scotland that continues to attract international recognition. He is currently Chair of SAPERE, the UK charity that promotes the development of philosophical enquiry in education.

Over the past seven years, Paul has published several books (now translated into Korean and Dutch, and also used in a major South African project), and given workshops, keynote addresses, and presentations in many parts of the UK. He has also spoken at several International Conferences on Thinking.

Paul continues to work with schools, LEA’s and other groups within the UK, developing thinking skills and dispositions, building social and emotional intelligence, and promoting philosophical enquiry as a robust and effective pedagogy.

Paul’s ‘Thinking Through Philosophy’ materials have been proven through rigorous university research.

Currently chair of SAPERE (Society for Advancement of Philosophical Enquiry and Reflection in Education), Paul is convinced of the deep and widespread benefits which flow from a Philosophy with Children programme, and the adoption of a 'community of enquiry' method across the curriculum.
